Lay folks always get this wrong about “fixing” the farm crisis: row crop farms and veggie/fruit/nut/etc. farms are NOT interchangeable for soooooo many reasons. A corn/soy/wheat farm can be transitioned to “human edibles” about as well as a steel mill can be transitioned into a shipyard.
There doesn't need to be food shortages. Half the corn crop goes to ethanol. End the ethanol subsidies and the workers on those farms can start producing a food crop.
If anything, the subsidies for non-food crops are what is driving up the price of food. The government should stop picking winners.

Sadie was diagnosed with cancer in late July. Yesterday she let us know she was ready. We called an in-home veterinary service, and she passed peacefully on her favorite donut bed, surrounded by a loving family.

Took a photo of my front porch with a Sirui 50 mm anamorphic lens. Used DaVinci Resolve to de-squeeze this photograph; did a quick de-squeeze at 1.8 - ought to be 1.6. Gonna experiment more with anamorphic photography.
