Here, I first set out my reasons why #RWRB is important not just as a gay rom-com, but as an allegory of the age-old theme of the contrasts between America & the Old World, and as a subtle and complex character study.

This lecture by Peter Hayes of U. of Sunderland

One of my party facts is that according to polls, Americans believe foreign aid is about 25% of the federal budget and on average that it *should* be about 10%.

The actual number is less than 1%.

Foreign aid has long been a boogey man of the right, so it's not surprising they're vilifying it now.

What I learned visiting ‘Ninja Killer’ Temujin Kensu in prison
When Temujin Kensu was charged with murder, there was a tough case to make. The "Ninja Killer" pleads innocence; The court says otherwise.

Today, Jan. 29, is the anniversary of the catastrophic fire that destroyed the renowned opera house of Venice, La Fenice.
Find out why the rebuilding of La Fenice illustrates the irresolvable paradox of historical preservation.
