Coffee reviewer in Chicago. Nearly 20 years married, raising a daughter who’s now driving 🫣🙏 I love the Church, grieve its distortion by Christian Nationalism, and contend for the faith as a bridge-builder and defender of human dignity against injustice.
I will not stay silent when Black people are demeaned, misrepresented, or reduced to stereotypes, especially by Christians, because faithfulness to Jesus requires honesty, accountability, and the defense of human dignity.

And what grieves me the most: I reject the distortion of Christian faith that minimizes or explains away anti-Black racism. Black dignity is not a political talking point to me. It is a truth-telling, accuracy-demanding, image-of-God issue.

In the strongest of possible terms, I condemn it and condemn the silence.

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for the cruelty.

I’m sorry for the silence.

I’m sorry for any making light of it.

And worst yet,

I’m sorry for those who revel in it, whether openly or in their hearts.

Far from reflecting the humility and unity at the heart of true revival, it mirrors the very culture wars it claims to resist, revealing a faith shaped more by ideology than by Christlike love.

I see grief being weaponized and false martyrdom invoked to rally a partisan base, fostering even more division rather than repentance or transformation.

So. I was still logged in. But it was really laggy. But this is a great improvement! 👏

…and guard against distractions, prioritizing sound doctrine over personal convictions or politics (1 Tim. 6:20).

How can we better keep our focus on Christ and His kingdom while engaging in the world around us?

When we prioritize political ideologies, we risk compromising our testimony. We must be well-regarded by outsiders, ensuring that our words, actions, and online presence reflect Christ’s integrity (Phil. 1:9; 1 Tim. 3:7)…

Christians in America are obsessed with the left-right divide, and this fixation weakens our witness, blinding us to the call to transcend these political categories. Our identity is rooted in Christ, not in politics, and we are called to reflect His love, wisdom, and discernment in all matters.

I’m seeking to make a difference with a photo campaign of our children. Because until every parent, every grandparent, every family member imagines the shooting is of their own loved one, things will never change.

The only heart issue that leads to this happening again and again are the hard hearts of those unwilling to do anything meaningful about it after every tragedy.

I’m appalled by the Christian culture in America that say the same tired statements every time after a school or mass shooting, ‘it’s a heart issue.’ You’re damn right it’s a heart issue.

I’m continuing a campaign for parents. It’s dark and troubling but I think it conveys an appropriate seriousness to our ongoing situation with gun violence in schools: it’s posting the most recent photo of your child, one you would share to news media, with the hashtag #intheevent
