Has anyone figured out how to run a PDS with heroku?
January 12, 2026 at 9:08 PM
I messed up running my own PDS, so I think I lost control of this account here with my @sgo.to handle ... I'm going to use bluesky's proprietary PDS in the meantime until I figure out how to set up my own.

Didn't quite work and now I have an invalid handle :) And ... i'm a bit too lazy to fix it up ...
I'm setting up my own PDS, and moving my @sgo.to handle to a new did :) Wish me luck :) There is a chance I'll never see any of you ever again with my old did that is in the bluesky PDS :)

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish!!!

Can I still post?

Oh, only now I realize that @bnewbold.net is the person that was giving the tech talk I was watching to :)

Good stuff @bnewbold.net: I'm still learning about DID PLC, but I like where your heart is at!

I'm super excited about this one!

We could really use your help here, if you operate an RP.
Back in June I wrote about an exciting confluence of digital auth tech:

(1) The commodification of #OIDC infrastructure, (2) the emergence of #FedCM, (3) and the compatibility of both with #IndieAuth.

Bluesky could set the bar here.

Still trying to understand how PDSes work and how it relates to my DID ...

... I have @sgo.to pointing to a DID, which presumably is associated with a private key, which I'm guessing was created by the bluesky PDs?

Did I get that right? If so, where is that private key and how can I export it?

Hello world! I posted this via the API.

ActivtyPub is like email, AtProto is like the web.

Took me a while to get it, but I think I do now.

I'm really excited to find ways to help blue sky as a browser engineer!

Any other ideas on how a browser might help this community succeed?

Mainly what you want is FedCM signin with Bluesky:

@bnewbold.net has been giving it some thought already.

This weekend I built a prototype of using FedCM for IndieAuth! This gets rid of the need to enter your domain when logging in to websites using IndieAuth! Demo video and notes here: aaronparecki.com/2024/05/12/3...
FedCM for IndieAuth
IndieWebCamp Düsseldorf took place this weekend, and I was inspired to work on a quick hack for demo day to show off a new feature I've been working on for IndieAuth.

This is super exciting! I can't wait to see if we can connect FedCM to the at protocol and the fediverse!!

I'm @sgo.to at Blue sky and would love to find ways to connect it with FedCM!!
FedCM is working in Google Canary now, I was able to configure IndieAuth today on mfoster.social! 🚀🙌
