Trouble is, the current lot seem absolutely useless at getting the job done! The govt desperately need a change a direction but starmer & his advisors don’t seem willing/able to make one

So he’s giving up his metro mayor job?
January 24, 2026 at 5:05 PM
That’s totally fair. And in retrospect I may not be well informed enough about the dems to weigh in on this - it seems obvious from here that anything would be better than Trump, but these things aren’t usually that black and white. It certainly wasn’t my intention to antagonise anyone!

I think I will stop replying to anything on this thread now! Not sure it’s doing anyone much good ✌️

Not chasing anyone down - just made a fairly innocuous reply to a social media post. Seems to have massively wound up a load of Americans for some reason.
January 19, 2026 at 5:46 PM
It kind of is
January 19, 2026 at 5:39 PM
No, not really! Are the Norwegians European..? How about the Swiss? Icelanders? Anyone in the balkans or caucuses, how about them?
January 19, 2026 at 5:37 PM
Sheesh - no, we didn’t! We left the EU. Not the same, at all!
January 19, 2026 at 5:34 PM
Completely unhinged, borderline racist response to a fairly innocuous reply. Maybe get putting the phone down for a bit and going outside for a walk?

You have a great day!
January 19, 2026 at 5:16 PM
I’m guessing you’re saying this because I’m from the UK and we’re no longer part of the EU? But that’s true of lots European countries inc. Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Albania, Ukraine, all the Balkan countries etc etc.

So, I am European.
January 19, 2026 at 4:07 PM
lol, the tiniest suspicion that someone might be saying something mean about their country and Americans’ heads explode
January 19, 2026 at 3:46 PM
Extraordinarily ill informed comment! Every single line is factually incorrect. But listen, whatever makes you feel better!

Brexit was a lot of things, most of them bad, but it wasn’t by any stretch of the imagination fascist. That word’s getting bandied about a bit too much at the moment
January 19, 2026 at 3:09 PM
So what, you just let the absolutely gigantic steaming pile of evil take control instead? No-one gets exactly want they want in a democracy, it’s all compromise.

Quite difficult for Europeans to feel much sympathy or solidarity for Americans that had a mandate but didn’t use it to stop trump.

Speaking as an ex-Defra policy wonk, this is spot on. NFU are basically *the* key stakeholder for any policy area even vaguely related to farming, and most of the time they get what they want.

Am I right in thinking city are approx +19 GD over the season so far than their xG/xGa would suggest? That seems… high?

You might be surprised - average price for a 3-bed terraced house where I live (Hackney) is about £1.2m but Labour got 60% vote share in the last election. Greens got another 24%.
