This is why, I think, that Russia must be oppressed systematicly so that it cannot pose a threat to anyone. Russians had this period once and they still see nightmares of traumatizing 90's era.

You are absolutely right. Finland and Sweden saw 'red flags rising' and changed their non-aligned mindset and become NATO members in quite quick pace.
My guess is that when you don't live near the russian border the threat does not feel real, yet it is very real when you think the sabotages in EU.
