Some agencies might be able to keep their name, since it's ambiguous which side they are on:

At this point, so far the net effect of this festival of redistricting is to add 3 seats for Democrats. VA and FL could change that.

Really not worth it for either side, considering what is likely to happen in 2026. And terrible for gerrymandered voters everywhere.

tl;dr (though still come for some good graphs):

- A Trump-appointed judge called out impermissible use of race by the Trump DOJ, thereby striking down a Trump-encouraged supergerrymander in TX;
- That supergerrymander wouldn't squeeze out more than 2 seats anyway;
- CA Prop. 50 is still the law.

Actually, it does mention those. You can read the whole text, linked from rhe essay.

The point is not whether they are mentioned, but whether they are mentioned in a way that produces a predicate for action. They do not.

In other words, if Texas's mid-decade gerrymandering gain is struck down...does California's gain still stand?

That would certainly break the stalemate...in an unexpected direction, 3 seats favoring *Democrats*.

I found this a table little hard to understand, since it's organized within groups of transportation riders.

If you reweight on estimated shares (56% take public transit), it looks like this:

i.e. 72% of Mamdani supporters use public transit; 49% of Cuomo supporters...and 24% of Sliwa supporters.

For example, California has 9 Congressional districts that were decided by less than 7 points in 2024.

If voters approve the new map in November, that shrinks to just 1 competitive district statewide, in Riverside/SD counties. It's 40% Hispanic, an ICE target.

He's commenting on an essay by Dan Nexon, pointing out that the existing Constitutional order has failed - and the main question is what comes after.
