Excellent piece! There is a class component as well, in that there’s a nexus of donors, environmentalists and YIMBY-cautious types who validate each other’s positions, slowing the path toward better solutions

I can’t escape the feeling that someone in the Executive Branch (obvs not the guy at the top) has read this book and taken all the wrong lessons from Moses’ tactics

Just spitballing here, but maybe moving an established division, relocating a bunch of people and setting up appropriate security might NOT actually save money? And yeah, it would hurt readiness, especially during the move— duh!
