Not a lot to tell, really
And as I typed that someone came in from the rain and demanded my attention

A while back I was discussing with someone films that were hot and hip for a while (Diva, Betty Blue etc) and we coined the term “ephemeral chic”.

I saw this at the Melbourne Film Festival at the time and thought it a masterpiece. It did make a big of a cultural splash but it seems somewhat unjustly forgotten these days. Now I have a hankering to watch it again.

I must admit that I liked it a lot, but I don’t believe it warranted a theatrical release here.

As soon as I took the photo I grabbed that glass!

I have the NSTC DVD. It remains a comfort movie for me and I actually have the vinyl soundtrack which I adore

Yes I stumbled upon this some years ago. He also had Hilditch out HTB I think from the same series

Yep, it seems that for so many years I was venturing in to city cinemas to see his films knowing they would only be on for a week

Saw it at the cinema, loved it. But other than VHS I doubt if it has been seen again. DVD & Bluray is great but so much is missing

Have an urge to watch BESTSELLER again. Not a great film, but the sort of above average crime drama that was a given in cinemas 30-odd years ago.

Long been a fan of this one and of Harris. That his mad politics has removed Woods from the screen robs us of a great character actor in his third act.

Nic Roeg on cinematography duties. I always loved the film but watching the blu ray almost made me cry it was so breathtakingly beautiful. Why are so few filmmakers willing to use vivid colour these days?

And the actor playing the journalist is why the film is no longer played on Australian television

That dramatisation infuriated me so much at the time that I think I would suffer PTSD from watching it again.

I remember it being an utterly glorious change of pace for Sayles. And it deserves to be wider seen.

Both the same year, I believe.

I have an early DVD that still includes a Beatles song being overheard. It is great fun and completely different to the previous outings

After rolling his ankle in 2005, “Well, that’s another fine mess you’ve gotten us into”.

I haven’t seen it in years but remember it being a top notch thriller. Keen now to give it a rewatch.
November 15, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Thanks and yes, exactly
November 13, 2025 at 11:27 AM
I know! Which means you may lose it too, soon. A pity as it was a nice bit of fun over dinner.

Sadly we no longer have the game. It seems that after a month or so it moves to the “premium” tier ie: paid tier 😢
