Every organisation sits on an ever increasing pile of data about its consumers, but still does not know enough about them. This feeds a self-fulfilling prophecy, which leads it to collect more and more data about its consumers. But nothing changes.

Building strong brands in today’s world requires you to be more focused than before. There are too many distractions, most of which don’t contribute to any form of brand building. Brands are built over the long term. Period.

There is a dire need to invest in British manufacturing and revitalise British brand building. A recent article on how difficult it was for an entrepreneur to make a British made kettle highlights the pain.

Every hashtag#brand, whether it is a startup, scale up, established or in any other stage of its life, will lose its ability to provide personalised customer service and empathy as its scales. That is the reality.
