This summer I’d love to take a month to intern at Dorley. In the current political climate, getting to smack some misogynistic abusers would be good for the soul

Graham Lanktree: “It’s becoming increasingly clear…that a number of concessions would be part of the (UK tariff) deal, like a review of a new Online Safety law and additional market access for US beef.” British East India Company, anyone? Or Kuro Fune biting back, mayhap…

Something very interesting in Texas A&M QEC v Mahomes et al: “(T)he Board’s argument conflates the existence of two sexes with different ways to express sexuality and sexual themes.” That statement goes into my Bag of Holding for further use

Re transphobic Minnesota senator Justin Eichorn, married with 4 kids, arrested for soliciting a minor for prostitution: Are you beginning to notice that the most rabid transphobes turn out to be mentally deranged?

P.s.: Minnesota Republican Caucus: “We are shocked.” Shocked, I tell you

I simply do not have the energy to deal with people like this. everyone who isn't a trans woman has very strong feelings about how we should talk about our oppression and I hope that every one of them has to deal with someone as annoying to them as they are to us for the rest of their lives

(2) If, on the other hand, someone thinks quantum computing is all a scam or a misconception, and quantum error-correction can never work in the real world, they need to be told that “the age of QC” *is* now upon us.”

“Different people need different messages depending on what misconception they have. If someone thinks we’re about to get personal quantum computers that will speed up everything we do, they need to be told that “the age of QC” is not upon us (and indeed, might never be).”

John Ciardi completed his monumental translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy in 1970. Writing to friends about the difficulty of conveying the sublimity of the final couplets, he added a couplet of his own:

“Thus spake Ciardi, handing out cigars:

‘The love that drives the Sun and the other stars.’”
