A6 Continue to offer clarity to students, reduce complexity and space to rehearse assessment in a safe space. Curriculum is central. Get it right helps wellbeing. It's about the Cognitive Load Theory (1987). Wellbeing isn't just an individual responsibility but a system and society one. #LTHEChat

A5 This image comes to mind.... but a complete chart of assessment and links to briefs and part exemplars would be what I show on a slide, plus encouraging students to have a study buddy to reduce stress. #LTHEChat

Oh yes I do remember reading about this! Less is more. We have significantly over assessed since then, killing learning, joy, creativity and even knowledge itself. #LTHEChat

A2 Write Assessment and Policy with colleagues at UEL(2019) that no module will have more than 2 assessments. If we care, make systems and processes kinder. Take the load off people. Learning and growth happens in the pauses and reflections. #LTHEChat

A1 Exactly, the old saying 'look after your staff, they will look after your customers and business will take care of itself'. Education has lost the humanity, I can point to countless leaders without any. Sad. #LTHEChat

That's good. We talk about lot in academia of load, assessment load, workload. Of course Professor John Sweller (1987) talked of Cognitive Load (theory). #LTHEChat

A2 Most students want clear expectations, deadlines and to know what good looks like. This will help them with their wellbeing. Offer this to staff too. You are on your way to a happier institution. #LTHEChat

A1 Staff and Student stress at the type and amount of assessment being shoehorned into the module. Arghhh! 🙄🤷‍♀️ #LTHEChat

I agree Sandra, these limited character posts, have to decide which phrase you leave out, I was aspiring to the journalists of the past and the few that to probe those in power. #LTHEChat

ICYMI on Tuesday, here's my *new* and *free* short-form summary of what's gone wrong in our universities. This is something of a last word really, because unless the Budget and White Paper do something really radical, the fate of much HE is already sealed.

Where now for Britain’s Universities?
UK higher education now faces a very bleak future, retreating in the face of little public sympathy and limited political interest.

Thanks @nurun.bsky.social 🙏, the questions prompted a creative activity idea of using #GenAI. Plus crystallised the need to question the biases of these systems. Through that, education can be better. #LTHEChat

😂, please do, likewise... I have the most creative ideas in these #LTHEChat, at work, tumbleweed (sometimes).

Agreed 💯 percent. Creating that psychological safety in a class, that's now the role of the modern educator. In my humble opinion. #LTHEChat

A6 The seminars as a series of prosecution / defence of what the #GenAI #LLM has said, contributions count as 30% of the final assessment. Whether you are a Law lecturer or not. Why? Builds presentation skills. I rest my case 😅🤪#LTHEChat

A5 The art of asking good questions, to probe the #GenAI #LLM but this skill works in the real world. We could all be journalists 😅 #LTHEChat

I agree Martin, well put, it presents an opportunity to explore these. Neal Sumner often says this, in emails even a few weeks (now retired now, but still very much engaged in education). #LTHEChat

A4 I have started to use it to have conversations. I notice that you have to question its biases, to get a rounded answer. This is the danger of using little questioned knowledge. #LTHEChat
