Why do politicians in most countries seem reluctant to tax the wealthy?

As Winston Churchill famously said, "Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

Right, literally speaking not. But, certain aspects of human nature, such as the pursuit of power, fear, greed, and the desire for security, are consistent across time. These can lead to similar types of conflicts, social structures, and economic cycles.

As a historian, you know that history tends to repeat itself and people are slow learners. Every hundred years or so, we have to go through the same phase of sheep following extreme right-wing shepherds who like to take the flock to the nearest abyss. The outcome is always the same

How is it possible that people are still voting for this man after the Brexit disaster? Is it because you live on an island?
