Following a landscape through time. I study how biodiversity linked to grasslands and deciduous woods are affected by landscape changes. This set of change is so common in Sweden. There is no space left for species to inhabit or disperse #communityecology 🧪🌍

Three maps and four aerial photos of the same landscape. The first map is from 1783, green colours denotes meadows, dark pink arable fields, lighter pink with trees pasture. Map from 1901 where orange is crop fields, green (along the river) meadow and white with * grazed areas. 1953 is an aerial photo where yellow is crop fields (tiny bit at the top), green forest and pale green open land that isn't ploughed, black and white photos from 1960 and 1975 show that open land is planted with spruce. 2018 is so spruce plantation and 2023 a clear cut.
What biodiversity that's left is along the small strip of the riverbank
