I love Thimble’s design so much, and I always love Laura Bailey’s characters, but the most striking thing about her is that stat spread. Five stats above a 14, 4 above a 16, with a STR of 3 is wild. I love ttrpg characters with big strengths and big weaknesses. #criticalrole

I love love love the absence of the gods here. I’m fine with stories with direct divine influence, but I think they’re often less interesting than stories about how people interact with issues of religion and of faith. #criticalrole

I love when a world makes it clear that we’re entering well into the narrative. There’s a richness of history, including recent history, in Aramán. These characters all carry a weight of world events, but also interpersonal dynamics. It’s juicy, it’s drama. #criticalrole

I used to watch religiously, but fell away during Campaign 3. It was as much me being busy as my feelings about Campaign 3, but so far Campaign 4 makes me want to make the time. #criticalrole

Campaign 4 of Critical Role has really grabbed me. Structurally, tonally, it feels like a big swing, for everyone involved. I mean that in the best way. I’m only an hour in, but I think I’m here for the ride. And I think I was in from the moment Brennan started talking. #criticalrole

There’s a weird little bit of affirmation that happens for a trans girl the first time a cis girl tries to talk to her about Taylor Swift. It’s sweet, a small confirmation that you’re part of the sisterhood.

It scares the piss out of me every time, but today…today, I’m terrified.

And not just the kids! Teachers all over the country are being forced to sit through PD pushing them to let AI do their lesson plans. And because they’re so damn overworked, a lot of them are doing it.

Adults who don’t interact with children don’t understand how much of a problem AI is in education. Sure, they might get that there’s a dangerous allure to letting the computer think for you. But I don’t think they understand that schools in many areas are actively shilling this tech to kids.

Our students just got new laptops despite the old ones only being…3 years old, I think. But we also have such a staffing shortage that I have 180+ students on my roster, spread out over four different courses. Money can go to business interests, not to the people actually teaching our children.

People do not understand how dire things are in public education, especially in red states. We suffer under profound institutional capture, but the only focus is underfunding. We absolutely are underfunded, yes, but the money we have is going more to corporate interests than to labor and facilities.
