I am a plant obsessed mom to two beautiful daughters and three adorable dogs. I love history, reading, forging/wild crafting and nature walks
While walking about the woods, I kept noticing these random balls that were all over the Gary oak trees. I took one home and started doing some research to figure out what this is. These are called Oak golls. They are full of wasp larvae and I took one home 🤦‍♀️

Discovered a male goat willow today & am so excited to get some propagations going. Goat Willow can be coppiced/pollard yearly, can grow 16-20 inches a year & the branches can be harvested/used for basket making, garden structures, waddle fences & flower arrangements. Pollinators love them too 🖤

I was fortunate enough to catch the tail end of the lunar eclipse and witness the full beauty of the blood moon, while being serenaded by frogs in the company of a few owls

We just had a full moon in Virgo and I am learning how that coincides with biodynamic gardening or gardening by the moon phases. Virgo is an earth sign so this week I am sowing my root plants. Just as the moon is pulling the tides to the shore it also is pulling up nutrient up for our root plants 🖤🌕

Spotted a tree with some massive mushrooms growing on them. Would love to know what kind they are but couldn’t get close enough to ID them 🍄‍🟫

It was a beautiful rainy day out here in the PNW. Went off trail and meditated to the sound of running water while feeling the light misting of the rain on my face. I feel so blessed to live around so much beauty 🖤

Spotted some English Ivy berries on my nature walk. Although the berries and all other parts of the ivy are poisonous to humans, the berries are an important source of nutrients to some birds.
In a pinch they can be made into soap and can be prepared for some medicinal purposes.

On the hunt for snowdrops and discovered the park trails are lined in daffodils

I absolutely love seeing all of the beautiful plants in bloom today. Here in the PNW the Oregon grapes are starting to bloom and this lovely pop of yellow on another wise gray and rainy day is so very welcome
