Tonight, in the middle of the crisis, I am sending thoughts and prayers to my community. We are still sheltering in place. First responders and law enforcement are working hard. But thoughts and prayers will not be enough tomorrow.

I am safe. I am a middle-aged mom who returned to Brown to get my PhD. I have called my college-aged kids and my dad. I feel this both as a student and a parent.
