I love the small scale of our backyard and the way it looks after a snow storm. Happy to have a proper white Christmas this year.

Saw “Left handed Girl” last week which was very good. It made me glad that I was a left handed little girl at a time when it didn’t matter. I honour Lazlo Biro whose clever invention, the ballpoint pen, spared me years of smudgy unhappiness. Trying to get scissors to work was enough trauma for me.

🌱Summer is my least favourite season unless I am in a cottage tucked into the woods beside a lake. Luckily I am for the month. Love the Canadian Shield.

Another week on the Bessie Ellen touring Skye and the small isles. Keeps getting better.

🌱Ottawa’s gardens are lovely right now, thanks to the cool spring. The rose on the left is a volunteer, while the peony on the right was my great-grandmother’s. So many ways to make a garden.
