@petersuber I suppose everyone is looking at this from a doom and gloom perspective but I can't help but wonder how long it will take internet folks to start spreading 'hacks' on how to get the lowest prices (such as the use VPN and Incognito currently)

#COAR (@coar_repositories) is exactly right about what's wrong with the #acs and #ieee demands that their authors pay them a fee for the right to deposit their accepted author manuscripts (#aams) in #openaccess #repositories […]

I just added the final link to the OxFOS recordings list (in our event recording archive) so if anyone's interested in listening to any sessions they couldn't attend (or having a nose around the in-person events if you couldn't make those!) I highly recommend […]

Back from #uksg2025 and I'd like to make a personal thankyou to @rmounce for throwing more weight to my 'Diamond makes things MORE sustainable' not-quite-a-question question in the Diamond sustainability panel. (Though I missed you in the crowds!)

Alright #uksg25 I've downloaded the Whovia app so anyone who's on Mastodon can find me if you'd like to have a chat about open stuff (or a moan I'm happy to have either!)

As I'm aware people see a cactus my 'real' photo is in that app so you actually know what I look like.

Any ideas what sort of open practices are used in Music research? I'm totally out to sea!

@MsPhelps I always feel awful for the 'jobbing civil servants' in the US whenever the president changes. They have to go over everything or risk their jobs.

#oxfos25 is now open and bookable on our website: https://openaccess.ox.ac.uk/oxfos25

Check out the timetable of events both in-person and online. Look forward to seeing people!

Alright science focussed open folks - If you were presenting to a very forward facing group in the sciences what would you highlight for forthcoming innovations/challenges in the sciences (specifically Neuroimaging but general issues welcomed). Not just OA!

@rmounce the quote I've always heard is "8 million" but it's probably more. I'm personally amused that the acronym of the journal is one I keep reading as STOLEN...

@katie I got your replies on Mastodon. But that's pretty rubbish if you can't see un-bridged accounts form bluesky on your Mastodon...

Anyone know of a open-source open educational resource creator? I only know paid for options. Even freemium will do!

Trying to come up with days for training in late Jan/Feb but my mind is fudge today. Aside from Friday (a day I do not work) when's best for academics do you think?
sarahhlib.mastodonapp.uk.ap.brid.gy
@katie We could do a test tomorrow - post something on Mastodon and then I go onto my bluesky only account and reply to your bridge account - just to see what it looks like for you?
