Saw signs for it in a pharmacy in Bristol on Friday.

My fab art history seminar group spent today's session designing and pitching an exhibition on iconoclasm for an imaginary job interview to be a gallery curator. I love that one group selected this sculpture by Esther Strauß to be their exhibition's finale:
A small sculpture representing the Virgin Mary in the act of giving birth, viewed side on. She is sitting leaning backwards on her arms, on a blue bed, naked from the waist down, with her legs apart, and is wearing a red dress pulled up above her bump. She is gazing up in agony with her hair loose and a delicate gold halo.

Obviously for maps in this context, but you are about to learn a LOT about eels.

What an incredible project for a very lucky person!

You will still visit the North city centre to do the house tour in Henrietta Street, of course.

Hotel or Airbnb? I would want an Airbnb on Fitzwilliam Square or close to Merrion Square. Don’t stay in Temple Bar, but aim for the National Art Gallery as your “as close as possible to here” point.

Gave a paper at the Bristol Classics Seminar yesterday on Arthur Evans & skulls. Great fun to share the Dark Truths (TM) with a brand new audience. Got to stop miming Charles Hawes being lowered down into a TOWER OF SKULLS to see how many he can grab like a claw machine (it was 26 - he was pleased).

Strong triffid vibes right there.

Wonderful! (This feels like a great opportunity to post a thread about her academic achivements too, right?)

Big thank you from this young classicist (doing GCSE Latin AND Greek!) who fell asleep reading your book last night after a great evening. Her favourite part was the vase. 🏺

The stunning Georgian interior of St Deiniol’s, Worthenbury has a complete set of original 18th-century box pews, an elegant triple-decker pulpit, and a grand west gallery.

Late night library find: a pamphlet written by the archaeologist John Evans with a note on the front cover that appears to be in his hand, dedicating it to his son, Arthur Evans (of Knossos fame).

Any experts on Evan's handwriting out there?

It's a fun read - I'm doing my PhD on Evans, btw (in Bristol, but live in Oxford). Happy to chat whenever!
