In my community, ICE watch groups are trained to film/document encounters and very intentionally do not intervene. It's a valid way to help.

Of course I am! It was a very bad thing that happened! They got tricked and instructors shouldn’t have to worry about their students entrapping them.

She did a masterful job of writing a bad paper that would likely be penalized while having just enough plausible deniability to be able to accuse them of discrimination (bc the assignment didn't have a super clear rubric). And unfortunately the instructors walked right into it.

I'm not really an expert - but I think we need hoards of people from all walks of life to be influencers / sci comms experts on social media, on TV, on podcasts, everywhere. Good information needs to be made as ubiquitous, interesting, and easy to understand as misinformation.

They need to be hearing the good info in larger doses. That’s something that proper comms work can make happen

I don't think it's a stupid perspective, but I think it's an emotional perspective. Like, I feel that part viscerally in my bones.

But giving up is the easy way out. If you can destroy the trust through disinfo then you can build it back with good info/comms too. It will just be so, so much work.
