Real Madrid needs at least two midfielders of the mould of Toni Kroos to control the tempo, provide progression via his range of passing, and a Luka Modric type to bypass pressure via carries, press resistance, half-turn receiving, and dribbles in tight areas. Luka Modric was a great passer.

HOWEVER, what is concerning is this group's ability to retain and keep the ball. In the 2024-25 season, Camavinga and Ceballos played a significant number of games, but were still out due to injuries. The presence of Luka Modric helped the situation, as well.
