No surprise Elise Stefanik is tied to the racist Young Republicans group. During 1st Trump presidency, one of her closest upstate allies was Ava Ashendorff, leader of the North Country Women's Republican Club, who posted hateful & Islamophobic content on FB. Stefanik never distanced herself.

Elise Stefanik won’t meet with her constituents but thought she could use the dedication of the Plattsburgh government building as a photo op without pushback. Fail.

Men impersonating ICE agents are a clear threat. Men impersonating women in bathrooms? Not a thing.

Forgive the dirty kitchen windows; we can’t clean them and risk disturbing our new neighbors, the ROBINS. (JK, we’ll probably never clean these windows.)

In a statement earlier today, Elise Stefanik said she was proud to vote for a bill that guts Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP, while driving up the deficit.

If there's one thing I understand better as I get older, it's why Amy Hempel wanted her dog on the cover of her collected stories.

Received my letter of promotion yesterday: Associate Professor Schaff, starting this fall. Lots to say about the years-long process of promotion/hazing that I'm still figuring out how to write about. There's plenty wrong with higher ed--none of it what the WH is persecuting universities for.

First new blog post in months, about a book I loved: Rattlebone by Maxine Clair, originally published in 1994, beautifully reissued by @mcnallyeditions.com in 2022.

It’s that time of year: when tulips bloom in unexpected places, thanks to our secret gardeners, the squirrels.

When will Elise Stefanik explain to her constituents why she refuses to uphold her oath? She’s allowing the kidnapping and human trafficking of people to concentration camps.

Scenes from yesterday's Hands Off protest in Plattsburgh, NY--hundreds of Elise Stefanik's constituents turned out in the rain and cold to protest Republican fascism.

This Saturday in Ogdensburg and Plattsburgh, to protest cuts to Medicaid & other benefits NY21 depends on. You can be sure Elise Stefanik won't be there. She never is.

Democrats doing the fascists' work for them, by voting to censure Rep Al Green, the bravest man in the room the other night.

More good things to listen to, read, and watch: the podcast Nation of Saints, Addie Citchens' fiction, Fiona Shaw in everything.

#NY21 is one of the poorest districts in NY, dependent on Medicaid, which Elise Stefanik & her GOP colleagues are trying to gut. Looks like she wants killing poor people & kicking our elderly out of nursing homes to be her final legacy in the House.

Get you an electorate that looks at democracy the way Winni looks at every person she thinks is about to give her a treat.
