2/2 I think the secularized idea of Christ, the Man, as a fallible but aspirational human with NO claim to divinity, is an Other to current Christian philosophy. I'm pretty sure the mere notion of the non-divine Christ is a heresy. The notion itself IS culturally savaged.

There are many faces of Jesus. There are three Divine Christs I identify to myself: Christ, the Redeemer; Christ, the Warrior; Christ, the King. These have been variously received positively in different eras. I think we're in a Warrior/King era with regards to common Christian notions. 1/2

I have not heard of the Process Church, thanks for mentioning it! I agree that one of Satanism's functions is the lionization of an othered figure. I think that Christ, the Man, is just as othered as Satan. I think placing Jesus in the lineage of wise people is just as subversive as Satan-as-an-icon

Indeed, it does. Thank you! The cover isn't very clear, and looking at Amazon there are two different texts with this title. One is by Paul Carus, the other by Gerald Messadie. This appears to be the one by Messadie. It's a little out of my budget for this month, but I'll for sure pick up a copy!

No, satanists do not believe in the biblical satan. We understand satan to be a man-made figure, like any other figure in any other mythology. We have adopted the literary satan as a symbol of rebellion against corrupt, mortal authorities of man.
