It does, doesn't it. Exploding d10s, bunch of weird powers, punishing hunger mechanics.

Playing in a two-years Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk, which was literally Cyberpunk 2020 with the serial number filed off, but which has since grown to be like The Expanse.

And now in a campaign of Eclipse Phase, which is like if The Expanse met Transmetropolitan met Altered Carbon met Kaiba.

I mean, why isn't Eclipse Phase at my FLGS?

Fear not. Lose your inhibitions. Destroy everything. There is always more everything.

Oh, haha, I take it as axiomatic.

Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk is a direct descendent of Cyberpunk 2020, running on the FFG Star Wars system...

See, this is why Eclipse Phase doesn't make sense.

I know I'M not a simulacrum, but if I WERE then the veil of ignorance expands beyond meaning.

Also in Android: Shadow of the Beanstalk TTRPG from FFG.

*Nahuatl* edition, yes! This would blow my Nahua friends minds!! They don't even game, (yet!) so this would be a great introduction.

A college classmate who helped me with some translations years back would probably split their face grinning!

I did a GM's round-robin over the summer, and it was great!

I didn't mean you, Julian! 😬

"All flesh-bearers are equally worthless before the Great Spider."

Beautifully said. 😂

But, like, why? You know the reality is different.

Why not write it for the forever GM whose players will never read it, and who barely know eachother but are bonded by the trauma of having to kick two bickering dudes from session zero?

But I completely agree with you that this person cannot dictate "the point" of your hobby.

I think I explained better here:

But I also believe that people watch/play soccer and chess "for the story," so maybe I've got a super broad definition of "story."
Agreed! Dice rolled and resources spent makes the game!

Mechanics should be driving the story beats, IMO, not just happening in parallel. I can't even imagine how to reify story beats without dice rolls.

And the fun-in-the-moment stuff is what actually gives the story weight, and weight is what gives a story shape, and shape is what differentiates a story from all other forms of speech, and also from other stories.
