Pre-existing conditions, not-allowing junk plans, Medicare expansion, kids on insurance until 26. Those are things off the top of my head.

That was a different era. Total NFL interceptions vary yearly, but the overall trend shows a significant decline due to rule changes favoring offense, with recent seasons seeing low interception rates (around 2-2.5%), a far cry from the league-wide highs of the 1970s (over 5%)

Sounds like MJ should weigh in on this one.

I have to say that I in no way trust that these numbers. It is unfortunate, but this Administration has fired so many employees and replaces them with partisan people.

... they are not going to back off the "Big Beautiful Bill" by increasing taxes to pay for some social programs. It is a horrible situation of their own making. A new fed chair will probably cut interest rates and blow up inflation.

Dude, I know you are an economics guru, but the Republican plan was simple: Provide massive tax cuts for rich people, and try to be budget-neutral by cutting government services and programs that helped poor people. They did both, and then launched extreme tariffs that fuel inflation. ...

He must have flunked history.

.. that had caps on coverage. Ensuring coverage if you had pre-existing conditions they they would deny insurace for. Allowing kids to be on parents plans til 26.

Thank you for that link, very interesting. I never really looked at Romneycare or its history. I was following the news during the construction of the ACA and understood the reason we needed younger ( healthier ) people in the insurance pool. They also wanted to avoid "bad" plans ...

Yeah, but it was what was possible to get it passed. My sister has lived in England for over 30 years and they have done fine with their system ( even when she had a very serious illness that she was successfully treated for ).
December 17, 2025 at 5:51 PM
I remember all the work that went into just getting the ACA over the finish line - exactly 60 votes in Senate, so they had to make lots of compromises. In 16 years since the Republicans have just complained without offering anything meaningful. Anything they come up with has not been viable.

I do not think it is possible. Our WW2 heroes would be horrified to know how their sacrifices were squandered.
December 17, 2025 at 12:47 PM
LOL, I am surprised that Mohamed does not point out the big risk of inflation, which I believe is running at 3% due to the tariffs. The risk of cutting rates is that it would push inflation up higher.

He and all of his MAGA scum need to STFU.
December 15, 2025 at 3:53 PM
Yeah, but it makes the game unwatchable. Burrow in Cinn season wrecked. Jones in Indy. Rams are my superbowl pick and now that sucks ( Adams had 14 TD so far this year ).

For most people, prayer is all we can do. However our elected officials ARE in a position to take some actions to prevent future violence.

I understand your inference. However as you probably know the problem is that those who cannot get the vaccine or those who get the vaccine and it does not work will be unprotected as well. This is why the CDC should mandate vaccines for all children as a public health policy.

She is quoting a christian view about God delivering justice. However she is grieving and should do it in private. Her whole world has been changed. When she gets older she probably will wish that somebody would have coached/insisted that she stay out of the public eye for a while.

Specifically I am talking about plastic surgery. We do have to have all kinds of obscure treatments when you have 300 million people, but, basic health services should be available for all.
December 10, 2025 at 4:37 PM
My sister has lived in UK for over 30 years. She has delt with a serious medical condition and received treatment from top doctors. I believe that society should provide medical care for all citizens. We have a warped view of "necessary" procedures that will not work the the entire population.

The teachings from religion should lead us to mirror forth the best qualities - truthfulness, compassion, justice, etc. It bothers me that people who profess to be religious ( like the press secretary ) ignore fundamental teachings of her religion.
