She also worked with Alexis Clairaut & Jérôme Lalande to precisely calculate the date of return of Halley’s Comet, solving the 🧵1/n
My linocut print of mathematician & astronomer Nicole-Reine Lepaute (1723-1788) in a vertical gradient (bottom to top) of bright pink to lavender on white paper. She wears a wig and gown and the portrait is from the chest to head. Her 12 diagrams of the phases of the annular the solar eclipse of 1764 as viewed from Paris appear across her shoulders. Behind her head in green is her map of the path of the eclipse across Europe.

I haven't been doing any gardening work recently, not even in my own garden let alone anywhere else, but there are flowers in bloom anyway. They're good like that. 🌱
White flowered Cyclamen persicum, in a hanging basket Helleborous orientalis cultivar with a flower bud forming A patch of Helleborous orientalis with many green-white flowers Purple-black flowering Viola cornuta cultivar on the side of a hanging basket. Needs picking over and is riddled with small snail holes and trails, but still flowering.
