For those angered about the White House demolition. My essay shares my small connections to the White House, along with my frustration.

Where were year a year ago today? I was at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. An amazing museum with lots of stories to tell. Paintings, furnishings, textiles, and more. And of course the courtyard is spectacular!

Beautiful blue #glass #beads from the late #BronzeAge.

Ploughed up by a farmer in Denmark in 1885, analysis shows the beads were made in Mesopotamia, pointing to long-distance trade in luxury goods some 3,000 years ago.

I was totally enthralled with the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia! Great art! No labels! I consider it one of my "exceptional museums." Read about it here:

Imagine you've walked into this painting by Winslow Homer. What do you see? What do you hear? What textures do you feel? What do you smell? What can you taste? You've just created a moment of respite. Take a breath. Now slide back into your day.

What do you see historically? And artistically? Emotionally? We tend to glance briefly at life and art. I advocate slow looking. Studies show that examining art improves our wellbeing.

As a museum professional (my 1st career), I appreciate the artistry, the lighting, & the carpet on the table. As a therapist, (my 2nd career), I wonder what's her life like? What else is she feeling besides tired? -A Maid Asleep, Vermeer, 1656. Dutch.

The European craze for Asian aesthetics didn’t stop there. Like Chinoiserie, Japanoiserie was a trend that swept through 18th- and 19th-century interiors, where Eastern-inspired designs were embraced for their vivid colours, ornate patterns, and perceived exoticism.
