Tim makes this argument seem so obvious that I eagerly anticipate the court finding 6-3 the wrong way somehow.

Honestly I think my argument is more for lowering RotS than it is raising any of the others, but it's not a hill I want to die on. That movie has enough stuff that really works that I see someone just clicking with it, but every good part of it is inextricably linked with something baffling and bad.

I guess my hottest take here is just a hot one generally: Phantom Menace is the most functional prequel qua film and probably deserves to be higher, but I'm moveable on this one and I do understand RotS love.

I especially like this list because it manages to thread a needle I struggle with myself- it gives a concession to nerds that is probably largely accurate (would not put Rogue One before TLJ but I overstate my distaste) while also reflecting someone who actually thinks about the movies he watches.

OK, 6-3, because as much as I want to be a Thomas Truther on this I don't think it's his kind of crazy. Might be 7-2, I feel like one of the liberals (my money's on Kagan) is also a no. Kavanaugh writes a concurrence that exists exclusively to save face and irritate law students with extra reading.

This gets us to 5-4 no if I'm right about the others, which is yet another reason to doubt the legitimacy of the Court moving forward.

I think she and Roberts wind up being similar, but her definition of a sandwich is insane while being demonstrably more principled while Roberts doesn't think a hot dog is a sandwich but does think some food literally nobody thinks is a sandwich (lasagna?) is "in the spirit of compromise."

I hadn't thought about this one but it's a personal favorite and ties in very well to several emerging threads. I love it!

These are all really good! I'll need to rewatch The Insider but one thing I'm realizing is that there is a potentially rich vein of "legal movies that aren't about lawyers" that are worth specifically calling attention to (I think Erin Brockovich is one of those too), so I think it fits well.

Not off-topic at all! This project likely calls for a TNG reference already (I think one episode in particular and Anatomy of a Murder capture a very specific aspect of my job very well) and should at least have a shout-out to other series so it actually might fit like a glove.

Since you've already tapped into this space, I feel like there might be a market for a piece exploring how law journal practices challenge the concept of linear time.
