If you'd gone on a cable news show six or eight years ago and said Trump's obvious goal was to remain in power to end all immigration to the U.S., a Very Serious Journalist across from you would've stuttered angrily, "Wh– wh– whaaat??? That's preposterous! Trump has never suggested that!"
