Author of sapphic Fantasy. Way too many cats and only slightly fewer dogs. So vague it hurts. She/Her.

I have a lamp with an adjustable arm that allows you to swing it to/away from the bed. I’ve found it very helpful. It looks sort of like this but less fancy:

There is a broad beautiful range of women (or those who identify adjacent) who love other women and boiling all that messy, sometimes salacious and often intense dynamic into one word that takes away all that feels like I’m being shoved back in the closet. So sorry for the essay but thanks I hate it

Its queerness made palatable (and often sexless). It feels like a term more meant to put straight people at ease than represent a diverse range of identities and genders and it drives me crazy. If your book is about lesbians say so If it’s about bisexual or pansexual or demisexual women say so 5/

I get that it’s different now. I get that language changes over time but it just kind of feels some times like the word sapphic is less an inclusive term and more a euphemism. Like yeah the rough edged girls are in there but don’t worry they’re few and far between. 4/

There was something toothy and protective and hard edged about not only being a lesbian but a dyke, and not only a dyke but a butch dyke. And now I see people writing cozy books about sapphic women and they have none of that edge or that deeply rooted pride and defiance that defined so many of us 3/

I am an elder millennial. being a dyke was not a cool thing or a thing that people were cool with. I’m not one of those people who yearn for the glory days of punk rock queerdom because they kind of sucked but it made me fiercely, obsessively proud of my identity. 2/

100% worth it. It has so many helpful features and is one of the only word processors without any AI enshittification to turn off. That and once you buy it you retain the license forever, so if you change computers you don’t have to buy it again. 10/10 investment.
