The only way we save programs like this are to self-fund via the State. We're going to have to start making a lot of compromises on what to fund in CA, as a recession will decimate our state revenues

Note: My son's school in California did this and it's a good thing. Students may have it on their person, but they can't use it during school hours. (2 detentions before he embraced it.) I would not, however, support a system where students put it in a bag at arrival and get it back end of day.

I'm an attorney who knows that litigating against a very bad attorney is much harder than against a good attorney. We don't speak the same language or follow (or even know) the same rules. You adapt to your opponent or you lose. It is demoralizing to fight on their level, but so is losing.

Excellent point. Is that what the problem with Dems boils down to? Party leadership failed us and now we somehow expect the hollowed-out detritus to do better? Ie, the same folks who thought octogenarians permanently in charge was the correct response to an existential threat.
