I recommend you share a few potato chips with a dog if you have the opportunity. A big cozy ding-dong is ideal for this, but really any dog.

Francis, teaching his graduate seminar in coziness. Enrolment opens soon for his summer intensive, rolling on your back in a cool bed of clover.
A very a very dignified looking tan dog with a black muzzle dog is curled into a circle on the couch. His head rests on a mustard coloured yellow cushion, and over his head is a faux fur fuzzy blanket. He looks a bit ridiculous but very cozy - he picked his head up just as I raised my camera, in case it was peanut butter.

Turns out it was pretty stupid of me to go to “law school” and pass the “bar” and practice “law”

How many rides before one (1) free beheading?

Say a prayer? I would not call the cops, because I’d be concerned that they didn’t have a car seat because they couldn’t afford one, and that the gigantic ticket they would get for not having the baby restrained would put them further from safety in any of several ways.

Once again I beg you to consider my proposal that a rotating committee of librarians and stage managers be put in charge of the US.

Can we not just accept that we need all the different kinds of brains to do all the different kind of human things? Because I am FOR SURE not keeping a 17-volume-and-counting detailed record of my decades of effort in restoring heirloom apple varieties, but I’m very glad someone is. ::crunch::

I love Dinosaur Train immoderately (to the point that I included it in my recent book) but we also had many discussions about how some of the science seems very… optimistic.

Little wins but Troy Kostur looking hot (without additional context) in the Bottega Veneta ad wrapper for the Sunday NYT about the poetry of gesture qualifies I think.
Famous Deaf stage and screen actor Troy Kostur looking hot and broody in a fashion portrait. His hair is long, he’s wearing a black suit, and his famously large and quick hands are stacked under his chin. Big text reads The Poetry Of Gestures and above there’s some woven leather sleeves.

Someone’s going to tell the early modern historians why the students are all talking about the pear of anguish this week, right?

(ugh I’m so aggravated that I forgot to close the quote after inconvenience.)

This feels like a @theradr.bsky.social question: does Judaism already have a bracha that is roughly “Baruch Hashem for letting me live in such comfort that this constitutes an inconvenience? If not, can we write one?

Today I, a professional storyteller and author, described something as “the lightiest light” because I was so distracted and overwhelmed I forgot that the word bright exists and if that’s not a metaphor then I don’t even know what (but also, please someone name your band The Lightiest Light).

Book cover for ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Thunder Song: Essays (Sasha Lapointe, Counterpoint LLC) The author of the award-winning memoir Red Paint returns with a razor-sharp, clear-eyed collection of essays on what it means to be a proudly queer indigenous woman in the United States today. Drawing on a rich family archive as well as the anthropological work of her late great-grandmother, Sasha taqʷšəblu LaPointe explores themes ranging from indigenous identity and stereotypes to cultural displacement and environmental degradation to understand what our experiences teach us about the power of community, commitment, and conscientious honesty. Unapologetically punk, the essays in Thunder Song segue from the miraculous to the mundane, from the spiritual to the physical, as they examine the role of art—in particular music—and community in helping a new generation of indigenous people claim the strength of their heritage while defining their own path in the contemporary world. https://www.counterpointpress.com/books/thunder-song/ Book cover for Special Topics in Being a Parent: A Queer and Tender Guide to Things I've Learned About Parenting, Mostly the Hard Way by S. Anyone want to talk me out of relaunching Queer Culture Catchup as a standalone site?

(This brought to you by the many people I know making queer and trans arts & culture things, especially early career, and getting 0 reviews because arts media has contracted like a salted slug, and I just...)
