My understanding has always been that what is exported to the colonies returns to the metropole. But in this case, the brutality feels mostly low tech and domestic. These folks don't even understand logistics.

I know this all academic. Thanks for the response

I have a small question. Do you feel this is an imperial boomerang? I feel like what's happening in Minnesota has deep homegrown roots, of slave patrols and vigilance committees, and frankly the history of policing. The imperial boomerang risk is there but this feels like a domestic terror right now

So they dropped an ICE contract in 2020 (due to staff backlash) but then picked one up in again in August 2024?

Weirdly I have been thinking that earthiness is also a feature of The Pitt, which isn't horny but understands that having Michael Nouri play a charming Walmart greeter dancing around in hospital robe and foam donut can make for compelling TV.

I think about the still-wide applicability of RS Benedict's Everyone Is Beautiful and No One Is Horny all the time

Everyone Is Beautiful and No One Is Horny - Blood Knife
The human body has become a strange contradiction at the heart of the modern blockbuster. Sexy, yes. But sexual? No.

As far back as 2015! Has he been keeping a running file or something, just waiting for the fascism meter to tip?

Interesting. I believe it possible there is a New England gradient to the smallest motion that might imply obligation. The range only spans eye contact to nearly imperceptible nods of the head, running North South. I write this with no disrespect to Maine

Fair point. I feel like a slight head not of acknowledgement should be involved, but agreed on solidarity.

Yeah not a fan of this sort of snowblowersplaining.

Are we talking sidewalk or front door? Sidewalk is one thing, a communal thing, but doing up to a front door without asking seems a little arrogant
