Today was my first time at a protest.
Silence is no longer an option.
I want my children to see what free speech looks like.
I want them to see what it means to stand up for what is right.
I want them to know what brave looks like.
It does not feel like enough.
But it is a beginning.

You give her paper flowers
Artificial grass
And heart confetti showers
But paper has no fragrance
And plastic irritates her skin
And confetti can't replace the rain
To quench the drought within.
