Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #natural; a bird in its natural habitat.

A stonechat in the heathland of La Mielle de Morville on Jersey. Such a gorgeous little bird in one of my favourite places.

You need to come see just how big they are now!

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #MoodyFaces.

There is nothing that says "mood" quite like the tufted duck, which is clearly a ball of feathered incandescent rage. It will shiv you with its beak, so help me...

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is a focus on #Feathers&Form.

I think this image of a black-headed gull flying low over the ice of a frozen Wimbledon Park lake fits the bill, with its wings wide and tail feathers spread.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #shortbeaks.

And so a long-tailed tit in one of the trees at the posh end of the street. It wasn't moving for once!

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #FoodFinds. And that takes me back to a summer day on the Wandle delta and a grey heron losing its food.

Picked up a Tamron 18-300mm Z mount lens for our Interrailing trip; I figured a single travel lens would be the best option.

18mm to 300mm without moving from my desk...

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Blackandwhite. So it's back into the archives and a tui peeping out of the bush in Abel Tasman National Park.

The Sentinel.

Classic BBC Micro strategy game with an air of cosmic horror. 1986 at its finest.

A black-headed gull reflected on the ice. Unusually for January it is still in its breeding plumage.

More gulls at a frozen Wimbledon Park lake, fighting over scraps of bread.

Seagulls and ice.

Wimbledon Park Lake this morning, bright and cold. People were feeding the gulls down by the boatshed.

With a #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Speckles&Spots it's back to the archives for this picture of a juvenile eurasian starling mid-molt to its adult plumage showing just how colourful they really are.

It's icy in London as the city wakes up from its annual seasonal hibernation.

I took a little trip two stops down the District Line to Wimbledon Park, where the lake would be covered in ice, giving me a photographic opportunity.

I was not disappointed.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #snowy, and so from a trip up Mount Rainier here's a Steller's Jay. The blue eye markings indicate it's the northern variant - southern birds have white markings.

A feral ring-necked parakeet walks up a tree in Wandsworth Park. This park with its many mature trees is fast becoming a major roost site for the invasive birds.
