Grateful to The @oregonian.com for featuring our reporting on Nike in Cambodia so prominently today.

Nike claims they pay workers 1.9 times the local livable wage. Workers’ pay stubs tell a different story.

Spend time with this investigation by @robwdavis.bsky.social and the stories of women I photographed in Cambodia, who worked grueling hours — still not earning enough to make ends meet.

ProPublica's @sbmaneyphoto.bsky.social moved back to her native California on Jan. 4. Three days later, the LA wildfires began.

As an investigative newsroom, ProPublica doesn't usually cover breaking news, but SB knew she had to document what was going on.

Her first stop was Altadena.
Text: Kim and Wendell Hood’s home in Altadena, California, was destroyed by the fires. Kim lived in the home for 30 years, and it was passed down to her by her parents. Image: Kim and Wendell Hood embrace against the backdrop of their burned down home. Text: “Fire comes in and it sweeps through, then nothing — you have to pick up the pieces of your life.” -Kim Hood. Image: The remains of the Hood family home. Broken, burned debris litters the ground. One charred support structure is still standing.

Still wary of the quality of the water, Pastor Robert McCathern uses a filtration system to fill a tub for baptisms at Joy Tabernacle Church in Flint, Michigan. Following the water crisis and coronavirus pandemic, he said, fewer people are getting baptized. Jacquinne Reynolds, 73, prepares for her care routine, which involves washing, brushing and moisturizing her scalp multiple times per week. Expired water bottles are scattered throughout the abandoned Northwestern High School in Flint.

After a two-week break, the NPPA newsletter is back. I penned this week’s reading list.

There are photos from Election Day, Ukraine, data from Women Photograph on freelance editorial rates, a wonderful essay by @sbmaneyphoto.bsky.social, and more.
