In this bizzaroland we now live in, one has to seriously consider that, as you suggest, this was all a media stunt to control the media narrative for a week or so to keep attention off of other big ticket items - what was missed while everyone was distracted?

Add to that Leland Dudek's (the acting SS administrator) threats to shutter SS entirely as he loses his marbles over a judge's ruling that limits DOGE's access to sensitive personal data, we have to fully comprehend that threats to SS are real (See Daily Beast, March 22, 2025)
