In the late 90’s I rented an old farm cottage and found this in a frame on the wall.
I thought this was Goethe until I looked it up online and discovered it was a fellow Scot. I memorised the entire masterpiece. It holds up eternally.

I volunteered at the Stevenson room in the Edinburgh writers museum for a while. He was a remarkable man (as were his lighthouse builder family). I especially liked the time he gave up fishing after realising the fish had suffered. His fly rod and creel are in that museum.

Hell was local to Trondheim where I lived for 8 years. The train station has a sign saying ‘Hell Gods Expedition’ (goods reception) and I’ve always thought it was missing an apostrophe.
Given all the child abuse and torture, Catholicism hasn’t much to be thanked for imho.

It is in the native tongue and it used to just be Hell, but the Catholic Church invaded, destroyed and made sure that it didn’t stay that way.
It’s one of the reasons there isn’t much about the Finnish history and their origins. No one knows and the ones who did are dead.
