From the movie First Knight with Sean Connery as King Arthur and Richard Gere as Lancelot. Arthur responds after Lancelot tells him, “If you knew me better, you would not say such things.”
My tip in writing genuine characters is they must have flaws. Readers hate perfect people!

My 11-y/o daughter turned in her writing assignment. She had narrative-to-reader comments, a flashback, and a plot twist. Her vivacious personality came through on the page, and I loved it! The spelling was rough, but I can handle that.
Have fun with your story craft, folks!

Etymology is fascinating! Oh, look at that--fascinating means to transfix, captivate, hold spellbound. 😉

I've done a lot of gardening over the years. Gardeners demonstrate HOPE every time they plant a seed. Will it germinate? Grow? Will bugs eat the plant? Will hail damage my garden? But through the drought, hail, and pests, they indeed grow 🍓🫐🌽🥕🍇.
Write on! We can't wait to read your story.

"I wish you all adversity and hardship," said the dean in his commencement speech. "For it is through trial that you will learn who you are."

Can a proofreading replace a copyediting?

Aren’t they the same thing?

Well, actually, they aren’t.

Proofreading isn't a cheaper version of copyediting.

At the Home Depot last night I thought, "What a great place for a murder setting!"
There are endless tools in a hardware store that could take a hapless victim out. Forklifts, saws--plenty of noises that could drown a scream.
"Body on Aisle 9!"
Anyone ever read such a mystery?

God knew we would want to touch the stars, so He gave us fireflies.

A good editor will polish your work and return it to you as a better version of yourself. A GREAT editor seems invisible when your work is published. The author is the star! 🌠
I offer free sample edits of 1,000 words.

EPIC ⚡ fantasy by Kristian Godin! In an alternate world, 9 adventurous friends discover a town on the sea floor, battle ghosts, and vanquish monsters.🐉 I loved how the friends' quirky personalities sometimes caused friction, but when stakes were high they had each others' backs. ⚔️🛡

#saturdaysmiles Cinnamon roll hero--the first time I heard this term I laughed. First used by author Olivia Dade in 2017, she defined the cinnamon roll hero as heroes who are “supportive, kind ones who tried their best, even when they made mistakes.”

Who is reading/writing books about these guys?

You know you are a proofreader when---
You can tell if a comma after italicized material is in italics...and you care.

Woman prefer male authors not to stereotype them in books. That's fair. I'm sure men feel the same!

I do a lot of fact-checking as I peruse a manuscript.
Would pioneers in the west have used flint + steel or matches along the Oregon Trail? Both were possible in that era; matches had been invented but were unreliable.
How long for a body to become unrecognizable in sea water? In fresh water?
