Yeah, it's funny, I feel like I have a grasp on why people are generally angry but the inciting incident and the reason why people are *so* angry are pretty opaque for me. Also think it's underrated that people are having a bad time because it's 2025, which is A Bad Time.

Also, more generally: conservative think tanks are a key business expenditure for conservative billionaires and treated accordingly. Liberal think tanks are a plaything/diversion for liberal billionaires and treated accordingly.

As someone who worked there, the reason CAP isn't trying is because they're not a liberal Heritage Foundation devoted to generational furtherment of liberal ideals. They were a 501c3 dedicated to making Hillary Clinton and possibly her daughter president and they catastrophically failed at it

People who run social media platforms will never learn moderation best practices even though thirty years of experience has produced some really useful heuristics (and yes, even practical scholarship), but moderation is not really a tech problem, so tech people see it as beneath them
