Was in the grocery checkout line with my baby daughter wearing New Balance and a young guy behind me pointed to my sneakers and said, "Nice, rocking some dad shoes." A man did this to me in public.

Think it's actually less of an issue that AI enthusiasts think AI are like people and the bigger problem is that they think people are like AI

One thing I was thinking about reading this good writeup is that cutting a special teams return guy is the kind of "tough guy no tolerance" gesture that's relatively easy to do and thus everyone can see through

"Justin Fields remains breathtakingly talented. He’s a diligent worker and righteous dude. But he still searches for his second read the way my wife searches for her car keys before she’s had her coffee."

The Jets are winless. Yet they should be better. Blaming Aaron Glenn and looking for a QB in the 2026 draft would be very Jets of them.

Why they got pornos in that thing?

The reason I think they'll have them is that he is so intensely delusional and surrounded by bad information that he thinks he'll win

Yeah, it's funny, I feel like I have a grasp on why people are generally angry but the inciting incident and the reason why people are *so* angry are pretty opaque for me. Also think it's underrated that people are having a bad time because it's 2025, which is A Bad Time.

lol maybe not great for the country but a hell of a turn for you!

I think they'll have them but they'll refuse to seat the winners. Gonna be a long parliament.

It was always kind of funny to me when Dems, for strategic reasons, had to pivot to "We all love our doctors, right folks?" Like uh, not all of them!

I'm pumped to listen to the Megan McArdle show!!!

Look man, you can just shut the paper down, you don't need to tank it like you're hoping for draft picks
scarymrolmecman.bsky.social
If I agree to watch an episode, will they let me opt out of the ads for the rest of the season. Please.

All of these hearings have devolved into televised performances so it would be dumb to approach them otherwise tbh. Dem lawmakers do not understand this and it's a problem.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.
Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators Bondi senate hearing had a folder full of notes for attacking the senators

Feel like the story of social media is that nobody has ever been serious about or committed to paying the costs that real, sufficient moderation would incur

Always think about how they preserved giant of Chinese letters Ba Jin's Shanghai home just as it was when he died but he died in 2005 so there's like a DVD player and shit

Also, more generally: conservative think tanks are a key business expenditure for conservative billionaires and treated accordingly. Liberal think tanks are a plaything/diversion for liberal billionaires and treated accordingly.

As someone who worked there, the reason CAP isn't trying is because they're not a liberal Heritage Foundation devoted to generational furtherment of liberal ideals. They were a 501c3 dedicated to making Hillary Clinton and possibly her daughter president and they catastrophically failed at it

The very well funded Center for American Progress has been in operation since 2004. The Democrats do not have “nothing” they’re just not trying.

People who run social media platforms will never learn moderation best practices even though thirty years of experience has produced some really useful heuristics (and yes, even practical scholarship), but moderation is not really a tech problem, so tech people see it as beneath them
