Indeed, since the very start, since the days of Vladimir the Great, the ROC has been a tool of the state.

Not if we fight. People LOVE the parks. This is not a winner for Krasnov.

He is the apotheosis of failing upward. Maybe that’s why he posted the picture of himself as the pontiff. Where else can he fail to next?
May 7, 2025 at 10:47 PM
It was never going to happen and all it did was create ill-will for no good reason. Krasnov is not a master strategist. He has failed at every thing he’s ever tried, except take over the GOP.

No, you're thinking of that prison movie with Tom Hanks.

I know, right? It’s a historically low number, but the author feels compelled to rationalize it. (And it’s not even true; 68% among Republicans is pretty low.)

It’s tough if you have read Call Me By My True Name.

I am not a fan of these quotes posted as image files. How can I find out more about this story? How can I be sure that this characterization of the story is accurate?

Also that the government already had multiple systems to eliminate waste and fraud. Not to say that there was none; but the dream that there were 2 trillion dollars of deadwood was never true.

You're right, but it's not just Roberts.

Sounds like crypto-eugenics to me, which is where the tech bro housesat libertarianism is headed.

Clip cuts off, but you can tell that the other people in the room cannot WAIT to disagree with her and explain why up is down.

The gulag deserves indictment, as does any country that attempts to design something similar.

What's so annoying is that it was so obviously false. Not even false - it was made-up. He said the same stuff in 2020 and it didn't come to pass. And yet people believed him, and they still do. What kind of superpower is that?
April 3, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Well, the people who haven't come to their senses yet. I mean the MAGA housecat libertarians.

All of those billions he does not need would have been used to alter local races. The deeper problem is still there - if EM were more self-aware, there's nothing in our system that could stop him from buying elections.

One hopeful takeaway from last night is that Musk went all-in (or some-in) and lost. He might have turned the election against the R candidate; hard to say. But if he did (or if he is perceived as having done so) then maybe they won't give him free rein like he has had since January.

I almost want the SS checks to be delayed (by just a week or so) so that people can come to their senses and see what entitlement reform really means this time.

It's very similar to a protection racket - no one was threatening the small shop owner before the Mafia offered its "help."

She's a subject in the Stanford Prison Experiment but she does not know it.

It's not just you. However, things are happening. Maybe they are not enough; maybe the leaders are too diffident; maybe they won't succeed. But things are happening. There are protests. AOC and BS are on a tour.

I am glad that clip is only 37 seconds long. I couldn't take much more. She's like a character from Mean Girls.
