We’re back with a Tuesday Tidbit, and this week we’re celebrating character playlists! We love compiling songs to define the vibe of characters we’re embodying - it helps to put us in the right mindset, and they’re honestly so fun to make.

What song best represents one of your characters?

Thanks to Nat Mesnard and Lauren Bilanko for having us at their Game Design Days panel! We had a blast talking about media inspirations, playtesting, and how to pinpoint the fun in a game. Keep an eye out for other events at Twenty Sided Store, especially Nat’s Assemblage release party on 1/31!

This Tuesday Tidbit: a game designed by our brilliant friend Rose Hahn!

The Virgin Dies Last, published on itch.io, is a one-shot horror game that uses Never Have I Ever, played OOC, as a mechanic to move the in-character story forward. This creates a fun, campy tone, and player bonding!

Heading home from Metatopia, very exhausted and happy! Huge thanks to everyone who played in the first runs of The Bottle Episode, and to everyone who was gracious enough to have us in your games.

First day of Metatopia; enjoying designing over drinks!

This week’s Tuesday Tidbit is directly from Nell! I was fortunate enough to play in a campaign of Paranoia XP, which completely changed my mind as to what is mechanically and narratively possible in a TTRPG, as well as leading to some of my most unique and interesting gaming stories!

For this week’s Tuesday Tidbit, we wanted to share the very first TTRPG we ever played: Fiasco, by Bully Pulpit Games. Freshman year of college, sitting in a tiny dorm with some friends, rolling handfuls of dice. Playing this game introduced a new form of storytelling to us! What was your first RPG?

Tuesday Tidbit time! We’ve been enjoying exploring bottle episodes of some of the TV shows we love - Out of Gas (Firefly), Cooperative Calligraphy (Community), and Ice (The X-Files) for starters. Does this count as research for our next game? Only time will tell! What episodes would you recommend?

For this Tuesday Tidbit we’re talking about If We Were Villains! This book by M. L. Rio inspired our game Beneath Hallowed Halls and is one of our favorites. It’s a beautifully written exploration of human psychology and relationships, which are the parts of Dark Academia we find most fascinating.

For this week's Tuesday Tidbit we’re celebrating Ren Faires! We visited the NY Ren Faire this weekend and had an absolute blast exploring the Viking village, drinking mead, and seeing some wonderful shows. Ren Faire is a great example of an immersive world and we are delighted to go every year.

Happy Tuesday! This week we're talking about one of our favorite video games: Inscryption by Daniel Mullins Games. This game taught us the power of genre specificity and is also just a brilliant puzzle/deck-building game. Don’t look this one up - just jump in and see where the story takes you!

For today’s Tuesday Tidbit, we’re sharing a book that we’ve returned to multiple times throughout the years: Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott. “I don't think you have time to waste not writing because you are afraid you won't be good at it.”

Our Tuesday Tidbit for today is one of the first video games we both fell in love with: Dragon Age by BioWare.

When we were college freshmen, we played simultaneously and compared choices - and it served as one of the inspirations for our game Campanions exactly 10 year after we first played it!

This week, we’re excited to share one of our favorite spots back in Maryland, The Board and Brew.

There was nothing better on a weekend than getting a latte, sandwich, and stack of board games to try at this College Park coffee shop/board game library. We try to visit whenever we’re in the area!

For this week’s Tuesday Tidbit, we’re talking about one of our favorite podcasts, Spark & Fire by WaitWhat.

This week's Tuesday Tidbit: Tom’s Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce.

We’ve been simmering on a portal fantasy game for awhile now, and what better excuse to consume as much of that content as possible?! This delightful book captures the wonder and transformation that excite us. Any other recs?

Tuesday Tidbit! This week: Overcooked by Ghost Town Games.

As writing partners, we are always looking for ways to improve our communication, and we've found no more chaotic way than playing Overcooked. We love the way games can teach us new skills - and how they give us a break to be silly!

It’s a Tuesday Tidbit! This week’s spotlight: The Blonde Dies First by Joelle Wellington.

We love a twist on genre, and this book is an intriguing take on slasher horror troupes. We enjoy exploring genre in our games, and love seeing it played with in the media we consume!

Welcome to Tuesday Tidbits where we post things that have been inspiring us! This week’s tidbit: The Quelmar Realm.

The Quelmar Realm is an amazing community of gamers that became important to us during the pandemic, and spending time with them is always rejuvenating. Check them out at quelmar.com!

We had an amazing time at Long Island Tabletop Gaming Expo this weekend! It’s amazing to get to meet so many people who are just as nerdy about the same things as we are 🎲

Less than two days remain to be one of the first supporters of "So Many Horrid Ghosts!" We're so honored by the support we've received so far and we can't wait to get this game out.

We started with six characters in the base game and are adding at least 21 more from our "Get the Most Revenge" tier. Depending on what criteria you use, around 155 characters die over the course of his plays. We're almost a fifth of the way to the full canon! www.kickstarter.com/projects/spi...
