You can still see this clearly online today. The more general the audience, the worse the behavior, even within the same modern social media platforms. E.g. the extremely general /r/pics subreddit vs the extremely niche /r/flytying. Toxicity is a direct function of topic focus and subscriber count.

As a Florida resident, between people driving like psychos, and every single road and intersection seemingly designed to maximize opportunity for crashes and pedestrian fatalities, it's kind of a miracle this number isn't even higher. It's certainly nothing we're doing, that's for sure.

You know the old saying about lies, damn lies, and statistics. They say the data is from JATO Dynamics, but that's a closed source automotive market analytics firm, so where their numbers are actually coming from versus where they claim (dealerships, online sales) is difficult to say.

This whole thing reminds me of 40k, where tech use has devolved into ritual and the why lost to time. "Strike the first rune upon the engine's casing employing the chosen wrench. Its tip should be anointed with the oil of engineering using the proper incantation when the auspices are correct."

Oh man, that's going to be super annoying. Couldn't they at least stick some landsat mosaics on there? It's better than nothing...

Most kids experience school as a place where only the grades and tests really matter. The core of our education system was created in the 19th century and it shows. Until we redesign it to reward curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity as much as grades, kids will keep gaming the system.

I definitely have more than a hundred, but most of them kind of suck, and I only have the ability to execute on about half of one anyway. Even less now that some wild orangutan is messing with all the funding. Yay science (?)
