I think the key here is this bit. Aviv has nothing to say about "fiction" that isn't in Awakenings or Hat and glosses over the fact that 3/4 of his books were after Hat. When she looks, she finds people generally happy with their portrayal. 1/2

Every time you point this out I think "oh maybe we're at least *trending* in the right direction?" I dug up the historical breakout and god damn it we are just not.
