I'm just posting this so I can pin it and look at it every day. Because I need something to give me joy.

Midday campus walk turned into gathering stuff to press for our paper mache latern making in a few weeks

Person who wanted to gossip didn't have an tea... he wanted to know mine. 😂 Our worst kept secret can't really be revealed until the 20th. A bunch of folks are connecting all the moving dots together, though. But I can't say anything yet.
schtimpy27.bsky.social
Just had someone stop by to see me, but I was busy. So they sent me a message "when are you free? Wanna gossip?" And I'm like, yes! But now they are in class until later and I'm left hanging!

@synonymforwet.bsky.social The local radio station just announced their December concert and it includes... Rob Thomas. Santana lives here, so the assumption is that there will be a special appearance. Smooth is now ruining my life at this point and I blame you. 😂

They're much more focused on academic, for sure. And they have kind of a hold on that market. Lots of eggs in fewer and fewer baskets. Before we went YBP we were with Midwest. That was usually pretty good and we still use MW for standing orders
schtimpy27.bsky.social
All of our local public library's, too. It is really distressing.
schtimpy27.bsky.social
That's a super bummer. One step closer to Library Orders by Amazon.™ We use YBP/Gobi, but have enjoyed our dealings with B&T for a few niche things over the years

An actual IT ticket I just submitted: "Printer A sounds like it has been invaded by demons. It's working, but sounds like a car crash. I doubt that's a good thing" Not even midterms, and the print is as fried as we all are.

I cleared out my garden patch this morning, and this encounter has me thinking about next year. Am I going to have to deer proof?
schtimpy27.bsky.social
I don’t think deer really live in family units, but it legit looked like a mom, dad, and child. He had a pretty good size rack. Youngster was very curious about me

And on my walk, met three new buddies 2 blocks from my building.

Trying to get back into daily walks after the start of the semester craziness. Easy with a week with the dogs. Harder to do now that I’m home

As someone who has to read communication for a job, people may think they can pull it off, but they've just managed to fool themselves. Anyone can produce something in the last minute, but it is rare to pull off the miracle we all think we did. (And this 100% goes for me, too. I ain't perfect!)

Long day and I'm exhausted, but buckling down to get grading done by tonight. I'm grading in the order received, and the truism remains: the quality diminishes the closer they are sent to the deadline. Assignments completed at the last minute show the lack of attention you gave it.

If a football team at a huge institution can do the 1 hour drive, our new swimmers can trek the 1.5 miles away to the Olympic-size pool we're partnered with, just like our golf team (and all golf teams) plays at local courses. At least ours' home course is a super fancy, 6 figure buy in country club
schtimpy27.bsky.social
College football discourse is reminding me that with the addition of new sports here at my insititution, skeptics are saying it is laughable because we don't have the facilities. Well duh, UCLA football doesn't even play in LA let alone on campus.
schtimpy27.bsky.social
It's in a park in Pasadena, so not the heart of LA proper or anything. It's not attached to a college or institution, so it's just plopped down in the middle of housing tracks. At least what's left that didn't burn down in January.

Campus is more busy and bustling than usual on a Saturday because of parents' weekend, but the turkeys do not care. Just had one almost walk in the library's open doors. I'm like no dude, not today!
schtimpy27.bsky.social
I could put my head down, close my eyes, and fall asleep at the desk right now.
schtimpy27.bsky.social
It's parents' weekend at ye campus, and I'm working the desk at the library. We have book displays for Hispanic Heritage month and LGBT+ history month. I hold my breath each time a parent walks over to them. So far, nods and smiles and a "thank you for this."
schtimpy27.bsky.social
Absolutely zonked, but the dogs don’t care. They want their evening walk. Hoping I rally. One block in and I’m not convinced I will
schtimpy27.bsky.social
She is like that 24/7. I’ve never met a dog this happy to just be alive.
schtimpy27.bsky.social
And now, I’m plopped in the chair completely wiped out from the swim. My lap and this chair are not big enough for two dogs. But they are not going to let that stop them
Two chiweenie dogs on my lap

I hit my goal to get back up to a swimming a mile. I’m not fast. I was hoping to break under 50 and was close. I start at one minute and if it wasn’t for having to stop and defog my goggles twice, I could have.

@synonymforwet.bsky.social I was just driving home and heard sirens and turned my radio down to hear where they were coming from. But the time they passed and I turned my radio back on… Smooth was playing. I thought you’d need to know this
