One of the central tensions in the period of media consolidation to come is that all of the executives interested in buying the news want to use it for RW agitprop purposes but their audience is a bunch of libs whom that pisses off

Are people doing the 'yeah but the conservatives voted for a guy who fucked a dead pig, so this is pretty tame by UK standards' thing?

I bet labour does it solo if they are coming up on the next election and looking at an utter wipeout under first past the post

“This two-handed soldier’s sword was huge and aberrant and frankly malicious, and utterly your responsibility.”
A drawing of Harrowhark Nonagesimus from The Locked Tomb series, dressed in hospital clothes while hugging a glowing two handed sword and crying, her gaze a little lost.

Me: comic-book villains are not very believable

*2024 happens*

Me: okay, fine. But no one believes that a hero will dress up as an animal like a bat or a spider or a, I dunno, a frog, and face down the bad guys.

Here's today's sketch ✨️

Sketch of a tree with a human silhouette in the foreground, a torii behind the figure and in the distance a faint mountain.
Made with an ink brush

The number of trans kids accepted by their parents is about 31%, from the last dataset I saw.
The concern isn't about the parents who love their kids and want the best for them. It's about the other ones.

The police don't even have a real union. Just something that looks like one if you squint.

Right? Bluesky might be a bit of a bubble but it's worth it for not having to deal with nazis.

I saw yesterday that 10% of the population owns 93% of the stock market, and now I'm trying to figure out how to articulate the upper class and it's economic indicators delaminating from the rest of us.

As far as I can tell from substack, a bunch of the people who did vote are still pretending the risk doesn't exist.

Treetrunk Cave isn't as comfortable as Mountain Cave or Beach Cave but during nonstop rain, it's a much-needed smoke/snack respite.

No one else was up there and the heavy drops from the trees meant the ferns were constantly jostled around me, though, there was no wind. Honestly, a bit spooky🪴👀🪴
Pine forest filled with mist and moss; forest floor is covered in reddish needles; top is obscured by the dark inside of a tree trunk coming down in an upsidedown V shape

Typical that you are here blaming the people who didn't vote for Trump to cover for those who did.

I still have no idea where you are getting these.

Happened a hundred years ago. Try that now and you'll get treated like any other protest: tear gas and batons.

Like, back in the great depression, or like in the 80s when dairy farms in Wisconsin got consolidated?

Then his voters should have taken him seriously.

No, corps will still use the land to grow food. It's not like land ownership changing has an impact on consumers three steps down the chain.

But a stat from where?

Ahhhh the Economist. I used to read that all the time in high school and I do treasure learning all the other countries are very much like ours, and seeing their politics.

But wow is the polite upperclass capitalist asshole a consistent editorial voice.

It may be? The citation I remember seeing was "Arrow, '49" but I bet that was the initial insight and the '63 paper was where he fully developed the idea.

It's cute how they are so pissed off at this happening when literally every citizen of this country has expected to be done to them since the patriot act. Did y'all think surveillance was just for other people? Lol

I agree- single payer free at point of use is the only system that's both ethical and doesn't completely fuck itself on incentives. There's a Kenneth Arrow econ paper from like 1949 demonstrating markets can't work for healthcare it's just been convenient for power to ignore what we've known forever
