I've only watched the first two films and agree with Arnie when he says at the end of T2 'It has to end here!' Nevertheless I really enjoyed this episode of @scifrightspod.bsky.social with guest @travisjj.bsky.social ranking the terminator franchise.

I really enjoyed it this! My thoughts:

*You could devote entire shows to what went wrong with T3 and Salvation. They’re not interesting films but it is interesting that they missed the mark by so far.

*Is Cameron the most successful sequel director ever? It’s actually nuts how good he is.

Thanks so much to @travisjj.bsky.social for being our first guest and talking Terminator with us!

The good folks at @scifrightspod.bsky.social have their first guest! Unfortunately, their options were limited, so it's me. But if you wanna here me, @liamdunn82.bsky.social and @lindsayhallam.bsky.social dig into the entire Terminator franchise, smash that link.

I'm going to go with a guilty pleasure... When I saw the first Transformers film (2007) in the cinema, my jaw dropped to the floor. Twenty-something me was a tiny kid again (and yes all the sequels are rubbish).

Our new episode explores how direct relationships develop between humans and A.I. We discuss one woman’s nightmare of A.I. domination in Demon Seed, and Alex Garland’s examination of human/A.I. relations (and possible robot liberation) in Ex Machina.

Please check us out & leave a review!
Under the banner with podcast title SCIFRIGHTS is the poster for Demon Seed, which has a woman lying face up, her hair falls down the bottom half, over which there is the tagline "Julie Christie carries the demon seed", then further down it says "Fear for her". Next to it is the poster for Ex Machina, all black with a photo of a robot woman turning to look straight at us.

My sci-fi obsessed Dad took me to see this shortly after it came out. I must have been about 9. One of the most important formative moments of my life! I was so proud of the fact that I got it and couldn't stop thinking about the experience. Analysis safe in the hands of @scifrightspod.bsky.social..

We begin our new season on AI and technofear by focusing on just one film (which just happens to be Liam's favourite movie) - Stanley Kubrick's monumental masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. There is so much to unpack with this film so consider this the deepest of dives - into the infinite and beyond
At the top is the title of the podcast SciFrights, underneath is a poster for 2001: A Space Odyssey. The poster has a drawing of a circular spacecraft orbiting near the earth, underneath is a small photo of a man in an astronaut helmet next to the title 2001: A Space Odyssey written in yellow font.

We're concluding our first season of @scifrightspod.bsky.social looking at the different ways Mary Shelley's Frankenstein has influenced horror and sci-fi cinema. Please listen wherever you get your podcasts, leave us a review, let us know what you think of the films, and help us spread the word!

In our new episode we look at the greatest monster humanity ever created: society itself! We discuss 70s dystopia classic Soylent Green and Brian Yuzna’s splatstick satire Society. Yes, this one gets a bit political but the best horror and sci-fi films often do, don't they?
At the top is the title of the podcast SCIFRIGHTS. Underneath is the poster for Soylent Green (images of the faces of the main characters, most prominently Charlton Heston in a blue cap and blue shirt) and the poster for Society (a man in a tuxedo stands behind a woman in a blue gown who seems to be pulling her face off)
