My next festival. This one's online so no need to go out in the cold! Looking forward to seeing Sugar Rot. I love director Becca Kozak's punk sensibility and transgressive attitude. Proud to have thrown my small contribution into the crowdfunding bucket...

Ahead of Thanksgiving, here's my latest piece on Ang Lee's The Ice Storm - a film that's become a tradition of my own to view annually. Residing currently in the UK, I hope one day to experience this festivity. 🙏🦃

Udo took a chance on my rinky-dink festival in Vancouver back in 2000 - he went on TV interviews with me, carried 35mm film prints up stairs, went to get me coffee and even live-dubbed Giancarlo Giannini's voice when BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA showed up without subs. RIP Udo, you were a star 🌟

The Last Man on Earth (1964) d. Ubaldo Ragona, Sidney Salkow
Vampiric, infected creatures roam the planet. My favourite of the cinematic adaptations of the 1954 source novel 'I Am Legend' by Richard Matheson. #VincentPrice

The Fly (1958) d. Kurt Neumann
One of the first horror films I remember watching on our old b&w TV back in the 60s. The fly/man in the web remains creepy to this day.🪰

...and two fascinating documentaries. I also saw the new restoration of The Keep (1983) which was excellent on the big screen.

We've enjoyed films, talks, Q&As and much more - & there are 2 more days to go: premieres, a mystery screening that you'll go ape for, Bad Film Club, Victoria Price & Peter Fuller, more incredible films...let's keep going!

Just dropping in to tell you how good Simon Boswell was @abertoirfest.bsky.social tonight…He played a selection of music from films he has worked on including many of my favourite films. 90 mins wasn’t enough though!

Programme highlight: Noise

A huge box office smash on its Korean release earlier this year, Noise is easily one of the scarier films in this year’s line-up!

Noise is a very satisfying mystery and a classic horror experience.

Programme highlight - The Degenerate: The Life and Films of Andy Milligan

Milligan is not known for great films, but he was undeniably a pioneer. Whether you’ve seen his films or not – and even if you never intend to! – The Degenerate is an entertaining, insightful film well worth your time.

I Drink Your Blood (1971) d. David E. Durston
#LynnLowry will be a guest @abertoirfest.bsky.social next week where they are showing 'The Crazies'. Even though she doesn't speak in 'I Drink Your Blood' Lynn is the star of the film for me! 🧡

PT 1: Instead of going straight to Christmas horror movies. Spend some time learning from and supporting Native American voices and experiences expressed through horror. Some of these depictions are better than others and we need to learn the difference. #nativeamerican #indigenouspeople
