I agree. It is a Yakuza game masquerading as FF. Too much emphasis on mini-games that run counter to the agency and drama of the story, yet are required for progression. Also, the general story changes miss the forest for the trees.

I really like gaming as a hobby, but I REALLY dislike how consumerist and FOMO-fueled it has become. My favourite gaming YouTube channel is BBK Dragoon. I wish more people in the space were focused on curating their hobby through intentionality, minimalism, and slow living. I want to be like that.

We live in a time where we willfully trade our humanity for algorithms and machine learning. Where many of us are more awed by ChatGPT than da Vinci or Vivaldi. Where the social media platforms once intended to connect us now ensnare us in a web of depression and isolation. Tf are we doing?

DOOM lore is best left in a notepad file dropped in the Recycle Bin. It is quintessential nerd writing full of proper nouns and little substance in the way of thematic or humanist weight. It is wholly uninteresting.

A lot of people create characters they love and so they don’t want anything bad to happen to them. At least as far as my comic writing is concerned, I love my characters because nothing good ever happens for them. And if it does, it is always a monkey’s paw.

To add (since I hit the limit), the reason I find most fantasy fiction boring is it is little more than wish-fulfillment wherein a hero is granted a magic boon that thrusts him (or her) into society's limelight. It would be far more interesting if the boon was a curse or plague (as in LotR).

I am not a professional at all, but when I do write, I focus on deeply flawed people making terrible choices. Paragons and heroes do not interest me. Abused, morally-compromised people do. I generally find fantasy fiction quite boring, but LotR sticks with me because it is the story of an addict.
